At present I don't think I have a favorite but if you go back twenty years there were a few dollar machines at the Comstock that treated me well. They were the ones with lots of melons, the little guy with the pick and there was a third symbol, I think. It had three pay lines at a dollar per line. This machine may be the reason I got stuck on Reno. The first time I played it, it kept giving me $10 or $20 every 2nd spin or so. I went back the next day with a friend and it treated us just as well again.

That machine, like most, eventually reclaimed it's wealth and I moved on to greener pastures. There was a similar machine at "Crazy Jack's Coin Casino" (anybody remember that one?) that treated me well on one occasion.

When "Triple Trouble" first appeared at the Sands my Mom and I had a hoot playing it. We'd get the three devils frequently and the subsequent bonus rounds were often generous.

At some point I figured out I could lose money less quickly at "Jacks or Better" video poker. I played it at the nickel level for hours on end. I've hit four Royals in Reno and that's always a thrill. I also used to enjoy "2nd chance Video Poker" although it was never too profitable. I'll dabble in the other forms of video poker too (i.e.; deuces wild) but I'm only confident that I'm playing close to proper strategy when I’m playing "Jacks or Better".

As far as the crazy 9 or more lines machines go; I've had some luck at “I Dream of Jeannie", "Icy Money", and "Texas Tea"….but not lately. Most of those video reel machines whisk away my nickels in a just a few spins.
Being of open mind, though, I should try John's “Pharaoh’s Fortune”. John, let us know when “Pharaoh’s Fortune” has decided that it has been too generous.

I just HATE those machines that serve up four to a royal, but always deal that seven of spades as the fifth card,

The only slots I like are the older ones like you mentioned. I really miss the old mechanical ones that were at the Nevada Club and at Colonial Inn. Anyone know of any mechanical slots anymore?

As for video poker, I have developed a taste for multi strike (bonus dueces) but at 20 credits/hand, you can burn up some dough if you get a cold streak. Also, there is 5 play multi strike...100 credits/hand. But when it pays, it REALLY pays.

JD, I have the 5 play MSP at home. Playing here has taught me not to play in casinos. You can play the game and others at http://visitreno.com/games. Just send me a check for your losses.

John, your check request reminds me of a hilarious Homer Simpson moment - he was behind on the mortgage - desperate to raise money, he got on the phone, dialed a number, and said:
"Hello - is this Vegas? Give me a hundred bucks on red."
(pause)
"D'oh! - All right, I'll send you a check."
(Hangs up phone)

Dave, your animated avatar is officially the toast of the town. Unfortunately, it's a small town, and not well-known for its cuisine.

Oh - favorite machines? Uh, er, I guess I'll pick "Lobster Mania", but mostly because I loved that song in my formative years. I guess I'd also vote for that cartoony Mexican-style one where a guy shakes the Maracas on the bonus spin.

I like Twin Win, us ed to like Salmon Run. It's been so long that I can't remember what I like.

I too thought VP was the way to go. But they are so tight now that I do better on the penny machines which are much more entertaining.

Dave, another magnificent avvie. But, what can I say. You even outdo your ownself.

Maybe, someday you can make one of me swinging my big bat - since that is the best thing I seem to do in life. Just got word last night that my team (I chose not to go this year) won a bronze in the World Senior Games. Maybe, had I been there, we could have bumped it up to Silver or Gold. Nice to dream big, isn't it?

I enjoy everyone's posts when I get a chance to read them.
Reno next week if all goes well.

I have forgotten how to find the visitation schedule board since I no longer have my own computer with the addresses.

Theres something wrong with that board.

Every time i try to put my dates in and post it, it chages the date to a Dec 1969 date. I have no idea why

Jerry, Stan, JD;

Thanks guys, for your favorable commments on my avatar. I was going to have the Ace of Diamonds come up - but the little office assistant kitty told me that was too unlikely a draw and to get real,... pal! The seven of spades was perfectly acceptable. D'oh!

And, favorite machines? I played Jerry's horse race machine at the Horizon in Tahoe in May. What could be more fun than that?

I think Jerry or Dave messed it up or something. It's fixed now.

john, you sound like my wife - everything is my fault. If the North Koreans drop the big bomb, it will be blamed on me. Very Happy

I also like Mystical Mermaid but can't get a "sniff" this trip. No twin wins here at Siena either. Since I arrrived yesterday, I have about a dozen 4OAKs.

Keeping my head above water and looking forward to NEXT Tuesday at the Fireside Lounge. Tonight (also Tuesday), I must stay here and see how high I placed in the slot tourney.

Some of the older slots I like are Wild Bear, Roamin Rhino's, Elephant King, and Great White. Viejas (in San Diego) has them all, except the old Great White. They've come out with a new Great White version, which isn't quite as fun as the old one.

As far as the newer games go, I like the Aristocrat games. I also like King Cheetah, and any of the progressives like the Matador, or Cashman machiens.

I've been getting into Time For Money lately. 21 lines, up to 10 cents per line and you can play the "win two ways" feature. Pays left to right and right to left, but costs twice as much. There's little advantage to playing two ways until you hit the "time" bonus. Playing two ways, 5 coins per line can result in time bonuses of over $150, and that's not all that uncommon. It also has two bonus features which aren't as profitable, but give you more play time.
